Celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. all day long at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate.
Open Art Studios, 9:30am-12pm: As Dr. Martin Luther King encouraged us to dream, artists will dream and depict what they think the world needs more of using stamps, ink, and oil pastels.
Dream Theater, 9:30am: Watch over 180 years of Black American history come alive in a special one-man show by local entertainer JDew.
steamWORKS, 1pm-4pm: Inspired by MLK’s use of music to promote Civil Rights, participants will craft harmonicas.
Luckei D’s Food Truck, 11am-2pm: Black-owned food truck Luckei D’s will be selling food in front of the museum. Enjoy burgers, nuggets, pizza and more!
All Day: You’re invited to participate in MLK’s National Day of Service by donating recyclables to the museum. These items will be used to inspire creativity and problem-solving through artistic endeavors. Suggested recyclables include toilet paper tubes, paper towel tubes, clean plastic water/soda bottles with lids, kid-friendly magazines, clean milk/juice cartons, cardboard or Styrofoam egg cartons, clean Keurig pods and newspaper.
