Birthday Party Host

Birthday Party Host
Part-time, Non-Exempt
Greenville Museum location
Flexible schedule, predominantly weekend availability

The Children’s Museum of the Upstate is seeking a Birthday Party Host to assist in supporting the mission to ignite a community of compassionate problem solvers through intentional and inclusive play. Serving over 250,000 visitors a year, TCMU has locations in Greenville and Spartanburg, houses hands-on exhibits supporting learning through play, and provides robust programming and outreach opportunities to the Upstate SC community.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Create an inviting, festive environment for the birthday party children and family
  • Oversee and manage completion of safe, fun and thorough birthday parties, resulting in a successfully delivered birthday party product
  • Facilitate and/or lead desired activities for all birthday party guests
  • Clean party rooms after use and communicate inventory needs to Birthday Party Coordinator

 

Predominant Tasks

  • Create an inviting, festive environment for the birthday party children and family

Qualifications

Experience

  • 1 year experience in children’s or family programming

 

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient with Spotify

  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Personable, friendly and able to manage conflicts, requirements of parents and families
  • Ability to multi-task and situational lead, problem solve in a fast-paced environment

Director of Facilities and Exhibits

Director of Facilities & Exhibits  

Full-time, experienced, exempt position, Monday- Friday   

Greenville Museum location 

$50,000-$75,000 

 

The Children’s Museum of the Upstate (TCMU) seeks to add a key contributor to their leadership team – Director of Facilities and Exhibits!  In support of TCMU’s mission and values, dedicated to play-based learning in the museum’s interactive exhibits and programs for all children, this hands-on position oversees all aspects of building maintenance, equipment (systems) operations, exhibit components and grounds for both facilities (Greenville & Spartanburg).   

Working within our engaging team environment, the ideal candidate leads an experienced facilities’ team through daily operations and special projects (fabricating exhibits), applying your solid administrative (computer), organization and communication skills. This full-time position, working Mon – Fri with weekend flexibility, is eligible for our competitive and rewarding benefits package.

Your experience and background must include: 

  • an aptitude for quick and effective problem solving, preventative maintenance planning, attention to detail, and technical aptitude in repair, electronics, woodworking, painting, and trade skills 
  • overseeing all aspects of facilities management, supporting an engaging and collaborative environment, communicating effectively (written and verbally) 
  • leading and managing staff schedules, work orders and daily responsibilities for efficient maintenance response times 
  • developing project plans for significant facilities’ projects to include exhibit fabrication; identify and managing qualified vendors, develop contracts, and monitor vendor work 
  • managing departmental operating budget, collaborating on short and long-term budgeting for facility’s needs 
  • knowledge and skill for using hand tools, electrical tools and other equipment; climb ladders, carry materials, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling and lifting to 40 pounds (periodically) 
  • project management, interpreting exhibit drawings, contribute to and coordinate exhibit fabrication while timely communicating progress 
  • solid administrative experience with excellent communication skills; utilizing computer programs in managing daily operations 
  • 5+ years’ experience in facilities management with 2+ years supervisory experience working in a team setting where a high degree of daily communication is required

Intern

The TCMU Internship Program seeks to recruit, train, and retain committed interns who bring a variety of knowledge, life experiences, and skills to The Children’s Museum of the Upstate in order to better meet the needs of the visitors TCMU serves. Internship opportunities exist throughout the organization, from exhibit maintenance to event planning to host a wide variety of individuals.
