Pop-Up Classrooms at TCMU-Spartanburg

1 hour session per week available Monday-Saturday
Pop-Up Classrooms is a free eight-week program (1 hour sesion per week) that helps children and caregivers practice classroom routines, build early learning skills, and prepare for kindergarten together.
Through Pop-Up Classrooms, rising 4K and 5K students and their caregivers practice the routines, skills, and confidence that help children start school ready to succeed.
Hosted at TCMU–Spartanburg, the program recreates a classroom-style learning environment where families participate in weekly sessions guided by certified teachers. The familiar routine helps children grow comfortable with classroom expectations while building relationships with peers, caregivers, and educators.

Families will receive a FREE TCMU Membership after successful completion of the program
Additional Information
- Pop-Up Classrooms are offered free to participating families, with priority given to children who have not previously attended preschool or another early learning program.
- Research shows that caregiver engagement is one of the strongest predictors of long-term academic success. By involving caregivers directly in the learning process, Pop-Up Classrooms takes a two-generational approach that strengthens both children’s school readiness and family confidence.
- Each weekly session introduces a new theme while reinforcing essential school-readiness habits such as following directions, sharing space with peers, and building classroom routines.
- Activities blend play and hands-on exploration while strengthening early academic concepts such as letters, numbers, shapes, and patterns.
- Sessions are led by certified teachers with expertise in early childhood education and are grounded in South Carolina’s Profile of the Ready Kindergartener.
