With the help of our friends at The Community Tap, we are bringing the Young Entrepreneur Market to TCMU this summer! Every child that participates in the market will have the chance to have their products featured in The TCMU Store, just like these 2023 winners!

The Young Entrepreneurs Market (YEM) was started by The Community Tap to  provide a safe environment for kids to practice and sharpen their entrepreneurial skills. The Children’s Museum of the Upstate is excited to partner with The Community Tap for this upcoming market. You’re invited to come out and purchase hand-made items and special services from these motivated kids in our community!

Young Entrepreneurs must apply to participate in the event by providing information about their product including:

Examples of past items for sale include jewelry, crafts, toys, wall art, planters, pet supplies, baked goods, lawn services, and more!

TCMU is planning to host a media reception to honor the young entrepreneurs whose products will be featured in The TCMU Store. More details to come!

Want a shot at seeing your products in The TCMU Store?

Products will be judged based on eight criteria including:  

  1. Age-Appropriateness: Does this serve a segment of The TCMU Store’s target age range of 0-12? 
  2. Brand Alignment: Does this product align with The TCMU Store mission and brand?  
  3. Brand Development: Does this product/company show a thoughtfulness of brand including a logo, colors, packaging, online presence etc?  
  4. Creativity: Would this be unique to The TCMU Store product line? Does it display a wow-factor and original thought?  
  5. Fun-Factor: Is this something kids will enjoy playing with?  
  6. Play Value: Is this something kids will find engaging either individually or collectively? 
  7. Quality: Is the product made with safe construction, utilizing high-quality, durable materials?  
  8. Skill-Building: Does this product help develop a skill such as reading, fine motor etc? 

The winning products will be offered a deal from The TCMU Store buyer, which will include:

  • Purchasing at least ten product units
  • A 30-day featured retail display in The TCMU Store located at TCMU-Greenville
  • Social media promotion
  • A four-pack of TCMU admission tickets
